According to wholevehicles, Yemen is a country located in the Middle East, bordered by Saudi Arabia to the north, Oman to the east, and the Red Sea to the west. It is situated at the southern tip of the Arabian Peninsula and has an area of 527,970 square kilometers. Yemen’s terrain is mostly desert plains and mountains, with a narrow coastal plain along its western border. The climate of Yemen is predominantly arid and hot throughout much of the year. The highest mountain in Yemen is Jabal an Nabi Shuayb which stands at 3666 meters above sea level. The capital city of Yemen is Sana’a which has been inhabited since about 500 BC. Other major cities include Taiz, Aden, Hodeidah, Ibb, and Dhamar. These cities are located in different parts of the country and have their own unique cultural identities. There are also numerous small villages that dot the mountainous terrain throughout Yemen. Yemen’s main water source is from its two major rivers: Wadi Hadramaut and Wadi Dhanaan which both originate in Saudi Arabia and flow through Yemen into the Arabian Sea. The majority of water resources are used for agricultural purposes such as irrigation for crops or livestock grazing as well as drinking water supplies for local communities. In addition to these two rivers there are many other smaller rivers that run through Yemen providing additional sources of water for local communities. Yemen also has a wide variety of natural resources including oil reserves located mainly in Marib Province as well as natural gas reserves located primarily off-shore in areas such as Masila Basin and Shabwa Basin. Other resources include gypsum deposits found mainly in Ibb Province; abundant limestone deposits found throughout much of northern Yemen; iron ore deposits located mainly around Sana’a; chromite deposits found mainly near Taiz; copper reserves found near Al Jawf; nickel reserves located primarily around Ma’rib; gold reserves found mainly near Hajjah province; as well as uranium deposits discovered recently near Ma’rib province among many other minerals scattered throughout different parts of Yemen.
