According to wholevehicles, Poland is a country located in Central Europe, bordered by Germany to the west, the Czech Republic and Slovakia to the south, Ukraine and Belarus to the east, and Lithuania and Kaliningrad Oblast of Russia in the northeast. Poland covers an area of 312,679 km2 (120,726 sq mi), making it slightly smaller than New Mexico. The country has a varied geography, ranging from lowlands along its Baltic Sea coast to highlands in the Carpathian Mountains. In between are many plains that are home to most of Poland’s population. The terrain of Poland is mostly flat with some mountain ranges such as the Sudetes in the southwest corner of the country. The highest point is Mount Rysy at 2,499 meters (8200 ft). There are over 9800 rivers in Poland with its longest being the Vistula River at 1,047 kilometers (651 miles). The Oder River forms part of Poland’s western border with Germany while other major rivers include Warta and Bug rivers which flow through central Poland. Lakes make up about one-fifth of Poland’s territory with its largest lake being Śniardwy Lake located at Masuria region in northern Poland. There are also numerous forests around Poland covering about 30% of land area; these forests are mostly coniferous trees such as pines and spruces but there are also oak forests found mainly on lowlands near river valleys or lakeshores.
