The Altai Mountains form the western border of Mongolia with Russia. These mountains are home to some of the most spectacular landscapes in all of Central Asia. The Khangai Mountains are located in north-central Mongolia and are known for their lush vegetation and crystal clear lakes. The Khentii Mountains are located in eastern Mongolia and form part of the Great Lakes Depression that runs from Lake Baikal in Russia to Lake Khövsgöl in Mongolia. This region is dotted with numerous small rivers which eventually feed into larger rivers such as the Orkhon River which flows northward into Siberia.
